V is for Vaquita

Exploration of the human impact on species, specifically the threats on vaquitas. They are condisered the rarest animal on Earth because of how endangered they are. The IUCN has declared this animal critically endangered and only 9 individuals are left alive in the world. ONLY NINE... The main threats against them are bycatch, pollution/pesticides, and boating accidents.

We can help save their entire species by:

📣 SPREADING AWARENESS. These animals especially need us to step up and do our part in turning their numbers around. The more people that know, the more that will be able to help directly.

💦 reducing pollution in their waters. They live in such a small area close to cities/towns that do not dispose properly which negatively affects their quality of life along with their chances of surviving. I'll say it again, ALWAYS dispose of your waste responsibly.

🛑stopping gillnet fishing in vaquita habitat and the demand for Totoaba products. Although it is banned, people still use this method of overfishing to catch Totoaba (a close relative) which results in drowning the captured vaquitas.
